We’ve just received a flash news item that this afternoon’s match at Palmerston has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. To compensate a wee bit, we’re re-broadcasting the interview Mark Smith took with QoS Cairman, David Rae last Wednesday. 3-4pm today, followed by results round up show between 4pm & 6pm.
Our very own presenter Alan McLauchlan has, himself, suffered the trauma of last night’s flooding in the region. His own business office on Brewery Street was waist deep in water by the middle of the night. All he could do is watch as the water seeped in through vents and ducts, even though his flood defences were up.
Despite all that, he’s been out and about, both through the night and today, talking to people afffected by the flooding in our area. Don’t miss his reports throughout drivetime today – 4pm -6pm.
Queen of the South Football Club Chairman, David Rae (centre in picture) is our guest on Wednesday’s Drivetime show, with Mark Smith. David steered the club to heights of success last year, culminating in their famous Scottish Cup Final tie with Rangers at Hampden.
Queens are perched at the top of the first division, with prospects of promotion a reality, if all goes well through the rest of the season.

We’ve actually been broadcasting for nine weeks now, so we thought it was about time we made our station ‘official’! To mark the occasion we’ve invited people from the community and from local Churches to come together for a civic drinks reception. It’s on Friday 13th November (no, we’re not superstitious!), from 5pm – 6pm, and Russell Brown MP and Provost Jack Groom will do the honours. Council Leader Ivor Hyslop will also be there, along with lots of others from Dumfries and this area. Many of our team of presenters and helpers will be there, and the event will be broadcast live on air.
ITV Border News are covering the launch, through their Lookaround show on Friday night and the BBC are covering it on the local news service from Radio Scotland, on Friday morning. Hopefully we’ll be in the local papers as well.
Make sure you tune in from 5pm – 6pm on Friday 13th, so you can be a part of the official launch of community radio in Dumfries too!
Our intrepid reporter, Iain Renicks has set up an interview with the Proclaimers, during their visit to Dumfries tonight. It’s the sell-out concert in DG One. Listen out for what they have to say, during our shows on Friday.
