A chance to nominate local community achievers through the the 2011 Nithsdale Community Achievement Awards
Do you know someone whose work for a Nithsdale community deserves public recognition? If so – here’s the opportunity to make them feel appreciated.
The 2011 Nithsdale Community Achievement Awards are held to recognise and celebrate the involvement and achievements of a wide range of community members and community groups throughout Nithsdale.
All those nominated for an award will be invited to attend the Nithsdale Community Achievements Awards evening, which will be on Friday 11 March at DG One, Dumfries. The evening promises to be a great celebration of success and achievement, with food, entertainment and the main awards ceremony.
There are fourteen categories for the awards this year:
- Adult Achiever of the Year
- Young Achiever of the Year
- Community Group of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Local Partnership Award
- Environmental Impact of the Year
- Inspirational Individual of the year
- After School Excellence Award
- Youth Project/Programme of the Year
- Making Nithsdale Healthier
- Peer Educator/Role Model Award
- Arts and Entertainment Award
- Outstanding Achievement Award
All the awards are Nithsdale-wide, and each award will have three finalists. Details for each of the categories and how to make a nomination are available in a leaflet which can be picked up in Dumfries from The Midsteeple, Oasis Youth Centre, The North West Resource Centre and in Upper Nithsdale from Kirkconnel Resource Base or Sanquhar Community Centre. Alternatively you can download it from www.dumgal.gov.uk.
The Awards Ceremony is organised by Dumfries & Galloway Arts (dgArts), Dumfries & Galloway Council’s Community Learning and Development Service (Nithsdale) and Nithsdale Council of Voluntary Service.
