Police are investigating a case of cruelty to animals whereby a group of youths were seen to be letting rabbits loose in a park and then having them chased by dogs.
The incident took place around 1950 hours on Monday 24 May 2010 at Maryfield Park near Barnton Road in Dumfries. Around 10 to 12 youths were seen at this time. Police attended and two men were arrested. A number of dead rabbits were recovered from the playing field.
Police are keen to trace any witnesses to this incident and ask them to get in touch through 0845 600 5701 if they can give any information as to who the rest of the youths were or indeed if they witnessed this act of cruelty.
