Coca-Cola comes to town

Coke TruckOne of the lorries from the Coke ad was in town today – or at least at the Cuckoo Bridge retail park. The tour manager explained to Alive Radio that they have a fleet of three trucks, which appeared on the ad and are touring the UK until 23rd December. One however spends most of its time outside the O2 Arena in London, but the others have a busy schedule around towns and cities. “Coca Cola has strong links with Christmas”, he said, explaining the reason for the profile raising tour.

Coca-Cola staff took photographs of people by the lorry and then issued pin codes so they could download the images from the website.Coke Truck

Guns stolen in Dumfries

Police in Dumfries are appealing for witnesses following a high-value theft from a farm in Parkgate.

Five shotguns and a rifle were stolen from the farm in Parkgate sometime between 10.00hrs on Thursday 10 November and 12.00hrs on Tuesday 15 November. A high-quality designer handbag, a watch and an amount of cash were also stolen in the theft. The total value of the stolen goods is around £15,000.

Police are keen to trace the occupants of a small van seen in the area during the morning of Monday 14 November

Detective Constable Hayley Ross from Dumfries CID said: “Clearly there is a public safety issue here and we need to trace these guns as soon as possible before they fall into the wrong hands.

“The guns were legally licensed to the owner who had them for legitimate purposes. However as anyone will know, they can be a dangerous weapon and should only be used by trained professionals who have legally applied for them.

“Thankfully gun incidents rarely happen in our region and this is partly down to secure policing and appropriate handling of them by their owners. We are resolute for this to continue.

“The combined total of all the property and cash stolen is undeniably significant and one would have to assume that the people who targeted this property knew there were items of worth inside. This would suggest they may have been in the area before the incident. We would urge anyone who know the whereabouts of the stolen property or seen any suspicious activity in the area to contact us on 0845 600 5701 or anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
