Yes they certainly did! Iain Renicks and Michael Greaves-Macintosh successfully completed a non-stop 24 hour broadcast from our studios in the Old Convent, Dumfries this weekend. Although radio stations have broken records longer that this, it must be a first for Dumfries. As fas as we know, no one has done this in Dumfries and Galloway before, so as such, the boys have set an unofficial local record! They were in the studio live on air from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday.

Iain and Michael were also joined by teenager, Aaron Kelly, who faithfully served them coffee and kept them topped up with moral support! Other presenters, family and friends called in, providing a steady stream of encouragement and listeners were texting, calling and emailing along the way.

All this, to raise funds for the station. Sponsor sheets are out and the guys gave invitations to donate online, and several hundred of £s have been raised through the event.

This weekend, presenters Iain Renicks and Michael Greaves Mackintosh host 24 hours of radio! Within the 24 hours, we’ll have a variety of mini shows, with themes from Disco to Blues, easy listening to classical.

We’ll also feature local bands and artists and various guests and fellow presenters will be popping in for moral support. We kick off at midnight tonight (Friday), running through to midnight Saturday.

4am til 6am    Classic Albums; Iain plays out 2 classic Albums

6am til 7am    Movie Madness; Top movie music

7am til 8am     Easy Like Saturday Morning (the ultimate in easy listening)

8am till 10am    The Morning After the Night Before show, with special guests

10am til Noon     Michael presents “Live” on Alive

Noon til 1pm     “Listen Local”. Local acts and bands with live music from Way Up

1pm til 3pm       The Blues Train … Rock n Blues, with Iain

3pm til 5pm      MGM presents, “Unplugged”

5pm til 7pm     Take a chill pill … Chill out zone

7pm till 8pm     The Alive Symphony; the best of classical with Iain

8pm til Midnight    Saturday Night Fever, with Michael and Iain (the home stretch with some great party choons)
