Summer Football in North West Dumfries came to an end on the 24th of August with the Big Match finale.

North West Dumfries Youths played a Wardens Select Team made up of players from Council services including Annan Wardens, DGFirst, Fire and Rescue, Leisure and Sport, Community Learning and Development and YPSS. Russell Brown MP and representatives from Queen of the South and Dumfries and Galloway Police also took part, which included the Chief Constable getting his football boots out in aid of this event. The match was again refereed by Neil Patterson from DGHP.

This year the weekly sessions had 56 young people through the gates to join the football coaching sessions organised by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Community Wardens, YPSS and Leisure and Sport in partnership with Queen of the South.

The Ewan Q Fraser Challenge Cup was presented to Northwest Dumfries Youths, for winning 3-1, by Councillor Ronnie Nicholson.

Medals and certificates were presented by Iain Campbell from Dumfries and Galloway Fire and Rescue.

This year they received generous funding from various local business and organisations and a local councillor, making it possible for the programme to take place.
