Living with a Teenager is a free 4 week course which will give will parents/carers the chance to share experiences with and get support from other parents/carers.

Sessions include:

Understanding the teenage years

Being a good listener and

Dealing with conflict.

Dumfries and Galloway Council is offering the course throughout Annandale and Eskdale. The precise locations and start dates will depend on demand. It is hoped to start the next sessions during October. Call now to register your interest and make sure the course runs in your town.

The course has been running in Lockerbie for a number of years. There are now more trained tutors and the Council’s Community Learning and Development service is able to offer the course in other parts of Annandale and Eskdale. Parents/carers who attended the course in previous years got a lot out of it. In particular they enjoyed receiving support from other parents on the course. As one parent put it: “It’s a relief to know that other parents are feeling the same way and it’s not just me.”

In addition to Living with a Teenager, the Community Learning and Development service offers a range of free community based courses for adults, including :- Building Confidence, Cooking on a Budget and Build on Your Skills. We can also offer support with literacy and numeracy skills as well as ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).
