Emmas ImaginationOrganisers of Youth Beatz today announced that Emma’s Imagination will perform on the main stage this year. Thousands of young people are expected to flock to Dock Park, Dumfries on August 13th to attend what could be Scotland’s largest free youth music event.

Having won TV show “Must be the Music” last September, and a prize of £100,000, Emma’s singles “This Day” and “Focus” both reached the top 10 UK singles charts. She later signed for Gary Barlow’s label Future Records and released her debut album “Stand Still” to much critical acclaim. Emma has had a whirlwind year and is performing at Youth Beatz amongst a hectic schedule of summer festivals including T in the Park and V Festival.

Created in partnership with, and at the request of young people, Youth Beatz 2010 attracted an audience of almost 12,000 people. Youth Beatz is an interactive event for young people aged 12-25 to have fun, take part and be better informed about relevant issues, services and opportunities. The event has been designed to be about socialising and experiencing major main stage acts as well as creating civic pride. The aim is a lasting legacy of young people being fully involved in their community.

Although Emma is from Dumfries, this will be the first opportunity for many local people to see her live since she shot to fame. Emma also performed at Youth Beatz in 2009 and accessed our Council’s Community Learning and Development Services like the Youth Enquiry Service and Oasis Youth Centre as a young person. An important part of Youth Beatz is giving young musicians the opportunity to perform at large scale events. With local acts Finding Albert and Xavia joining Emma’s Imagination on stage, the event promises to have a strong local representation.

Youth Beatz will be headlined by UK chart star Chipmunk and will feature a daytime guest appearance by X-Factor star Wagner. Organisers have promised there are more acts to be announced in the coming weeks. Youth Beatz 2011 will continue as free to enter, but members of the public are advised that for the first time tickets will be required. Free tickets can be obtained from www.youthbeatz.co.uk

The event is managed through a partnership led by Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Community Learning and Development Nithsdale and is part funded by Nithsdale Area Committee. Funding for the event has been secured from EventScotland, Awards for All and The Holywood Trust alongside main sponsors Stagecoach, Magnox North and Dunlops.
