Fit MAD (mums and daughters) Activity Club
Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Leisure and Sport service has teamed up with PE teachers in Dumfries and local clubs and venues to organise a programme of activities aimed at mums and teenage daughters. National statistics show a drop of in levels of physical activity by girls as they start secondary school and the programme provides opportunities for families to share. They can meet other mums and daughters and have fun trying something new or returning to a familiar activity.
The eight week programme includes a wide range of activities including canoeing, yoga, golf, boxcercise, badminton, walk/ jog group, netball and fitness classes.
The eight week programme finishes on the week of the Run for Health event at the Crichton Sunday 27th June.
This is the second year Fit Mad has been organised. The Council has been successful in encouraging more than 100 people to take part in activities. Mums and daughters say it’s good to have something they can do together and they feel the benefit.
