New road safety plan launched

Dumfries and Galloway Road Safety Partnership has launched a new Road Safety Plan for the region, the first plan for the new Partnership.

The Road Safety Partnership which brings together a number of key organisations plans to collaborate and review accident trends to determine shared priorities to address current crash trends.

To coincide with the launch of the new Road Safety Plan the Partnership has launched a website at www.dgrsp.co.uk where the public can access the new plan direct.

The Road Safety Partnership is working towards 2015 and 2020 Government targets for casualty reduction and the Chair of the Partnership Assistant Chief Fire Officer Hamish McGhie is confident they will be achieved. He commented; ‘The new Partnership approach allows all of the organisations involved to share resources and intelligence which will allow us to work together more efficiently and I hope more effectively. There is still a lot of work to be done on road safety in Dumfries and Galloway and with all of the main players on board the new partnership I’m confident we will be making positive early steps towards achieving the Government targets.’
