Hat Trick – the story of gentlemen’s headwear through the ages
is on at the Dumfries Museum, The Observatory on Rotchell Road.
Open 10am – 1pm, 2pm – 5pm Tuesday – Saturday.
For centuries the hats men wear have served as status symbols and fashion accessories as well as being functional and protective. From the formal, stiff top hats worn by the aristocrats and professionals of the 19th century to the soft felt berets favoured by intellectuals and artists, men’s hats have made important statements. This exhibition, based on Dumfries Museum’s own collections, explores this very interesting subject.
Ho, ho ho!!!
I’m getting really into character now. Ho, ho ho!! That’s better!
The Pastor really appreciated the bawbles for the tree the Elves made. They had a great time. Sang their hearts out they did!! Mrs Claus and I did too. We sang “O come all ye faithful” again. I love that one.
Now the postman has been and we have a huge amount of letters from children everywhere, Alaska, Germany, oh several from Dumfries. I will open them first.
Now, what is this? A lorry full of Christmas trees?? I had better go and deal with this. Elves anf Christmas trees are a potent combination!
I’ll be in touch tomorrow!

Hello,
Ho, ho, ho!! Getting into my vocal exercises now. That was a great party last night. The elves and reindeer had a great time except for the game of musical chairs. Have you ever seen a big reindeer sit on an elf!
Well, Mrs Claus and I have then all scrubbed and in their Sunday best. After my cup of tea we are away down to Tankevaara in Finland again. The elves have make lovely wooded bawbles for the Christmas tree outside the church. The tree is huge. I am very sure the Pastor will approve.
My goodness look at the time. I will need to put my tea in an thermos flask and drink it when we arrive in Finland. By the way did you try the recipe I gave you yesterday? It is yummy.
Bye for now, we are looking forward to a lovely morning in church and hope you have a wonderful time too.

Hello
Santa here. Yawwwn! Oh, I had a great long lie this morning, I am getting on you know. Mrs Claus has just put a big bowl of porridge in front of me. Lovely. Oooh too hot.
Good that gives me some time to write my blog for Alive 107.3.
Now tonight we have a Christmas party for all the Elves and Reindeer. I have a top secret recipe for a lovely Christmas drink. For the first time ever I am going to give it to anyone else. Got a pen and paper? Good, here it is…
Are you ready, mix 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder and 1 teaspoon of hot water in a bowl and watch out for elves poking their noses in, and mix it all until the cocoa is dissolved. Place the cocoa mixture in a blender with 1 cup of milk, 4 tablespoons of frozen blueberries and 4 cubes of ice and blend for 40 seconds. Yummy!
Well, my porridge is cool enough to eat so I will bid you a good weekend and look forward to sending you my blog for tomorrow before we all go to church.

Hello,
We had more wrapping paper delivered today, then with a big gust of wind it blew across the North Pole. We will be picking it up in the new year!!
Oh! The Post is here. Lots of letters from Dumfries. I will look forward to reading them.
We are so busy, Mrs Claus is even helping out. Between you and me, I like that. Mrs Claus ties better bows on the presents! I am really happy. Lots of letters arrive every day asking for traditional old fashioned toys. I like making those, especially wooded trains.
Just a quick blog today..sooo busy. Not even had a cup of tea this morning yet!
Bye for now, Love
