Rescue teams have been searching for a woman feared to have fallen into a flood-swollen burn.
The woman is thought to have been swept away after falling from a quad bike beside the burn which joins the River Nith near thornhill
Police, Moffat Mountain Rescue team and Nith Inshore Rescue launched a search after the alarm was raised at about 1130 yesterday
The overturned quad bike was found near Crairieknowe Farm, Thornhill.
Police are concerned that the woman may have fallen into a burn which joins the River Nith.”
A spokesman said: “We were called to attend an incident north of Thornhill where a person had come off a quad bike beside a small stream which was in flood water.”
The search was called off at nightfall and is expected to continue on Tuesday.
