Sport Relief Comes to Town
The countdown has begun to the Dumfries Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 21st March. Dumfries and Galloway Council has teamed up with Sport Relief to organise events in Dumfries, Castle Douglas and Stranraer. You can choose to do 1 mile, 3 miles or 6 miles – whatever is a challenge for you. So from teeny-tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock, there’s something for everyone on the big day. You can walk, hop, skip or run – it’s the taking part that counts. The Dumfries event is at the David Keswick Athletic Centre with the 3 mile and 6 mile events starting at 10.30am and the 1 mile starting at noon. Jim Thomson from Queen of the South will start the races. Entry is £5.00 for adults and £2.00 for children, and sponsorship is optional. Council leisure facilities across the region are also hosting Mile Challenges in every Profiles Plus Fitness Suite from Monday 15th to Sunday 21st March. You can run a mile, cycle a mile, row a mile or X-train a mile with prizes available for the best times. You can make a donation for taking part – make your mile make a difference. Sunday 21st March is set to be an amazing day. It’s fantastic that so many people of Dumfries and Galloway are gathering together to show their support for Sport Relief 2010. The Council want this to be the best Sport Relief event yet, so please enter the Mile events or complete a Mile Challenge, and join us to raise plenty of cash.
