Today’s Style Council
With Spring here, most of us may be thinking about injecting some fresh spring colour into the homes. Buds opening, plants sprouting, the green grass and textures inspired by nature, nothing can beat it. We want our homes to reflect the new, fresher, brighter colours that we’re seeing around our fabulous rural region.
Whether you’re ready for a complete makeover or just a dash of spring in the home, hopefully the Style Council will inspire you.
A beige room and little budget?
Do you have a beige, sorry, a bland room but no budget for the ornaments or wall hangings or paintings you would like? Pick up some pots of colourful paint and be brave. It’s only paint and there is no need to be afraid of colour.
To match your new walls think about what to adorn them with. Look around and cast the net wide as there are a lot of places where you can pick up very inexpensive wall art.
Kitchens
Add colour to the walls and you are bringing out the best in your most colourful dishes. That is one reason for the popularity of highly colourful kitchenware today.
Carpet and Rugs
Carpets and rugs can emulate nature and the fields we pass on a daily basis. Think corn swaying in the breeze, rushes at the side of the loch, grass in the field or the play of light in the river Nith as it passes Kingholm Quay. Depending on the manmade fibres in the carpet you can set great effects at work on your floor.
Think Spring and spring into action.
Back on the Style Council in a fortnight with more tips.
