Police are renewing their appeal for witnesses following the death of a 32 year old woman from Newton Stewart. Wendy Kelly was found unconscious in a house in Hillview Terrace in the town, early morning on Monday 17 May 2010 . She was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary where she died later that day.

A Post Mortem examination has established that Miss Kelly died as a result of a head injury.

Detective Inspector Mark Hollis from Galloway CID explained that his team are determined to establish exactly how Miss Kelly died. He said, “Wendy’s death has prompted a significant policing response. We have a dedicated team working on this inquiry and have set up an incident room at Stranraer Police Station.”

“We have conducted extensive examinations around the area Wendy was found, which we hope will give us further clues to explain her death.”

“It is vitally important that we piece together her last movements. We still need to speak to anyone who may have saw Wendy during the weekend before she died” (Friday 14th – Monday 17th May 2010).

Miss Kelly’s family have been supportive of the police enquiry. They are devastated by the loss, and a family member reinforced the police appeal for witnesses by saying “If anyone knows anything, please come forward”.

Anyone with any information which might assist the police inquiry can contact Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary on 0845 600 5701, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
