About Us

Studio consoleAlive Radio, in the Dumfries area on 107.3fm, in D & G Infirmary on the Hospedia system and online, on this website. Most weekdays, we’re running from 7am – 9pm or later with real people live in studio!

We’re run by a bunch of enthusiastic people from in and around Dumfries, seeking to build community spirit and help people feel good about living here.

Alive’s History

Alive Christian Radio was formed in 2004 as a result of two people who shared a dream. Local Christian worker, David Currie and Church Pastor, Mark Smith, had a coffee together and began to share with each other their dream of having a Christian radio station which would be widely accessible on FM in the Dumfries area.

They invited interested people to get together and after a lot of hard work and occasional tears, Alive was launched. The first broadcast period used a 28 day Restricted Service Licence during July and August 04, on 87.7FM and online through aliveradio.net. Over 50 people were involved in the project, mainly as presenters. In 2005 we ran the project again with even greater levels of success, and encouraged by this we decided to run once again in 2006.

On 11th May 2007, we were approved for a Community Radio Licence by Ofcom, and began broadcasting on 107.3fm on 1st September 2009.

Hi Craig. That sounds a great idea – we’d love to be involved on an on-going basis. I’ll email you.

    Hi folks,

I recently done an interview with Zoe Bestel for Marks show as she was performing as part of HMV Glasgow promotions.

I was wandering if you would like to make this a constant feature in your show?

The idea behind the project is we take 8 bands every cycle ( a cycle lasts 2 months) we sell the artists cds in our Buchanan st, Agyle St and Braehead stores and each artist plays at one of our monthly showcases.

So far we have involved Zoe Bestel and Finding Albert who are local to you. We also look to include Sean Vs The Robots who is another Dumfries, artist in the future.

Please get in touch if you want to get involved or have any further questions. I am happy to do as many interviews as you need ( every day if possible!!) and if you do talk about the project, please mention that HMV Glasgow Promotions is on facebook.

    Thank you for your time.

    Craig Morris
