One lucky online poker player from Brazil walked away with over $1million over the weekend, coming out on top of a tournament that saw him satellite just $11 dollars for him to enter.

It was Brazil’s ‘AAAArthur’ who came away with the huge prize fund after taking part in PokerStars’ biggest ever online poker tournament over the weekend that featured a total prize fund of $18,603,200.

A total of 93,016 players entered the tournament, which took place over the course of three days’ play, with the Brazilian’s victory being all the more incredible when you consider the fact that his previous biggest winning haul from an online game of poker with PokerStars was just $90.

However, he saw that biggest win multiplied exponentially when he came out on top of an enthralling final day’s play. Arthur was joined in the final nine by Two Romanians, two Lithuanians and one each from Germany, Cyprus, the UK and Croatia, with the Brazilian also coming into the final table of nine with the shortest stack.

The final day of play initially started with 91 players, with the tournament itself commemorating the 14th anniversary of the Sunday Million tournament, which has been running since 2007 and has been hugely popular amongst PokerStars players. There has only twice been more money up for grabs from an online tournament, coming in 2018 ($21.78 million) and 2019 ($21.09 million).

The final four players left were AAAArthur, CrAzY_sTeFaN, Salonteskis and caroline2963, who eventually all settled for the following prizes following an ICM. The ICM deal saw each player walk away with the following figures, while $50,000 was also set aside for the winner:

AAAArthur: $1,142,802.46

CrAzY_sTeFaN: $921,328.12

Salonteskis: $826,919.68

caroline2963: $786,873.65

Arthur then came out on top in the final game to take home the additional $50,000 that were up for grabs, leaving him with a total jackpot win of $1,192,802.
